Get to Know Kris Haak, the Broker Behind Canvas Insurance



Hi, I’m Kris Haak, the founder of Canvas Insurance, a boutique brokerage that specialises in providing personalised insurance solutions for every stage of life.


I help homeowners, families, and those with dependents to protect, navigate the world of insurance. As a father of one young child with another one on the way, and with over 14 years of experience in the industry, I understand firsthand the importance of securing yours and your loved ones future.


At Canvas, you'll work directly with me, Kris. I pride myself on building long-lasting relationships within our local community, ensuring that you receive the support and guidance you need, no matter what life throws your way.


A Glimpse Into My World


I call Royal Oak, Auckland home, having relocated from the North Shore with my partner and our little one to be closer to one of our favourite spots - Cornwall Park. Weekends you’ll often find us there, chasing after our daughter with takeaway coffees in hand.


With family spread out around the country, we spend a lot of our time in Mount Maunganui and Whangamata catching up with everyone, and love a Kiwi family roadie. 


My partner, Lois, is the creative mind behind our brand's digital presence (wouldn’t have a clue how she set up this website), bringing our vision to life online while I focus on serving our clients. 


My Pathway to Insurance


My journey into insurance was shaped by my dad, who dedicated his career to the industry. His passion ignited my own - I love meeting such a wide variety of people, a lot of them which have inspired me along the way. 


What Insurance Products Do I Have?


I’m a big believer in the products I recommend, especially as my partner and I both rely on our incomes to pay our mortgage and provide for our family. 


With income protection, life insurance, trauma insurance, medical insurance, and mortgage protection in place, we have peace of mind knowing that our family's future is secure.  It may seem like a lot for now but we know as we get older and our mortgage reduces, our needs will evolve.


The One Thing I Want For My Clients


Insurance can be overly complicated, often filled with jargon and scare tactics. I want to cut through all that noise for my clients, to help them work out what they actually need. Insurance doesn’t need to be overwhelming, I want to make the process as painfree as possible for you.
